Taiwan's Exports to Africa Sees Strong Growth in 2013
December 26, 2013

Taiwan's exports to emerging markets grew 3.1% year on year to US$72.25 billion in the January-to-October period, accounting for 28.6% of the country's overall exports, said TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) on December 26. In particular, exports to African countries registered the strongest growth of 10.1%, followed by ASEAN's (The Association of Southeast Asian Nations) 4.1%. By individual country, Egypt is the most fast-growing export destination, surging 25.2%, followed by Malaysia's 22.4% and the Philippine's 11.3%. TAITRA reckons that Myanmar, Cambodia, Nigeria and Pakistan will present the greatest opportunities for Taiwanese industries, such as raw materials, industrial components and machinery.
